See the Good

My older son is going on a trip and will be away for longer than he ever has. I am re-learning how to see the good in EVERYTHING. It is not easy or particularly fun, but the lessons that we have to learn over and over again never are. My favorite yoga teacher would challenge us to "smile at everything we meet." I'm meeting up with a lot of sadness over my boy being gone so long - can anyone help me find my smile?

  1. Yes it is hard to see them go for longer than they have in the past. I can relate. Your story took me back to when my son was going on a week long school trip I knew he was going to be fine but the house sure felt different without him . The most wonderful thing happened when he got back. It was his reaction to being home again!! He did have a great time but he also came back with a new appreciation for US, his parents, and home! He is an adult now and gone for many months at a time to school Do I miss him? Oh Yes.
And each time he comes home he continues to appreciate his family.
Hope this helps you, you must be a good mom to be concerned and feeling as you do. Remember .... deep breath in and exhale!!
